Searching for jobs

Use the search feature to find jobs matching your requirements. You can filter and save searches as well as create job alerts if you create an account.


We will ask you for your name, address and your email address so that we can contact you regarding your applications. You will also need to choose a username and password for logging into the website. As soon as you have submitted these details you will be logged in and have access to your personal dashboard.

Here you will be able to add your personal information, skills and CV. If you decide to apply for a job on-line this information will automatically pre-populate the relevant sections of your application form, saving you the time and trouble of re-entering the information each time.

If you forget your password you can use the 'forgotten password' button and a reset link will be sent to your registered email address.

On-line Applications

The online application form has been designed so that it can be saved and resumed at any point, as long as the job is still open.

Please check your application thoroughly before submitting, to ensure that all relevant fields are completed and that the information you have supplied is accurate. Once your application has been submitted you cannot alter or amend it. You will, however, be able to view it, or print a copy through your dashboard.

Application process

Our recruitment process is designed to be both fair and effective:

  1. Once the closing date has passed, all applications are sent to the recruiting manager for short listing. Applications will be accepted until midnight on the closing date.
  2. The recruiting manager will review your information against the essential and desirable requirements of the role, as detailed in the role profile.
  3. If you’re successful at this stage, you advance to the selection stage. If not, you can ask for feedback from the recruiting manager.
  4. We use a variety of selection methods depending on the role we’re recruiting for. These can include interviews, topic discussions, role plays and presentations.

IMPACT Behavioural Framework

The IMPACT Behavioural Framework has been developed to support the ambitions for our workforce. The framework aims to enhance both individual and organisational performance and will be applied in recruitment, performance management and career progression. It defines the behaviours that all colleagues across both councils are expected to consistently demonstrate at work.

Disclosure and barring service (DBS) checks

If the job you apply for would involve substantial access to vulnerable people, or personal confidential information about them, you must agree to a disclosure notification being sought from the disclosure and barring service. This requirement will be made clear in the job advertisement.
