We are offering opportunities to customer-focused individuals who welcome change and the challenge of delivering improvement. In return, we can offer flexible working in an environment where innovation, challenge and efficiency are key aspects.
Our Councils have adopted new, exciting, innovative and forward-looking corporate strategies setting out our visions and priorities for our unique areas. Consequently, we have restructured and expanded our Legal Services Team to support the delivery of these priorities, creating new opportunities for those that are looking for a challenge in helping shape and enhance this new Legal Team.
The Principal Property & Contracts Lawyer (Lead) plays a key role within the Legal Services Team, and will manage the work and the team comprising the Property and Contracts lawyers.
The main responsibilities are to provide professional legal advice and support to the Councils’ Assets and Property Team. The Principal Property & Contracts Lawyer (Lead) leads the Property and Contracts lawyers on providing advice and support for acquisitions and disposals, leases, contracts and procurement, complex advice and including specific project work.
The Principal Property Lawyer (Lead) will act as the business partner for the Assets and Property Team by proactively engaging and collaborating with them about their business needs.
The Principal Regulatory Lawyer (Lead) will be one of two deputy Monitoring Officers working with the Head of Legal Services and Monitoring Officer to respond to code of conduct complaints and other governance-related issues.
West Devon Borough and South Hams District Councils are shared authorities in a beautiful part of the country with exciting, innovative and forward-looking corporate strategies and delivery plans. We are offering opportunities to customer-focused individuals who welcome change and the challenge of delivering improvement. In return, we can offer flexible working in an environment where innovation, challenge and efficiency are key aspects.
IMPACT: Band B
The IMPACT Behavioural Framework has been developed to support the ambitions for our workforce. The framework aims to enhance both individual and organisational performance and will be applied in recruitment, performance management and career progression. It defines the behaviours that all colleagues across both councils are expected to consistently demonstrate at work. The framework can be found on the right hand side of this page under ‘Related Information’.
